Why Lowell Light & Power?

We are Public Power – When you live in a public power community like Lowell, it means decisions are made at the local level in your best interest, and you benefit from affordable energy, better service, and a utility that cares about the overall well-being and growth of your community.

We are proactive & reliable – Smart meter technology helps alert our staff of power outages. Outside of major adverse events (e.g., storms), customers of a public power utility are likely to be without power for less time – 62 minutes a year, compared to 150 minutes a year for customers of private utilities.

We are local – Many of our employees live and work in Lowell and surrounding areas.

We are cost effective – Public Power utilities are not-for-profit, and offer competitive electricity rates to customers. On average, residential public power customers pay 13 percent less than customers of privately owned utilities. We aren’t motivated by profits to sell more power, so we want to help reduce energy use. It’s a tradition that’s worked for over 125 years & we’re proud to be a part of it! We are here for YOU! – LL&P has been providing electric service to thousands of customers in the City of Lowell and portions of Lowell and Vergennes Townships since 1896.
