Energy Smart Rebates
We want to help you use less electricity, save money, and ensure a more sustainable future for our community. Customers can qualify for a rebate when you purchase qualified high-efficiency products. Rebates categories include: heating and cooling, new appliances, windows, insulation, and other equipment. Please see the application for complete details.
Rebate totals of $50 or less will automatically be applied as a credit on your next LL&P bill. For rebate totals over $50, a LL&P representative will contact you to confirm whether you prefer a check or bill credit. After submitting a completed application with required documents, please allow 1-2 billing cycles to receive your check or account credit.

For families/households with more than 8 persons, add $13,750 for each additional person. Eligibility is based on 250% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (source: hhs.gov/poverty-guidelines).
Michigan Home Energy Rebates
In April 2025, the State of Michigan launched the Michigan Home Energy Rebates Program (MiHER) to help households save money on energy expenses through home energy improvements and new, efficient appliances.
MiHER includes two programs:
- Home Efficiency Rebates (HER) provides funding to lower the up-front cost of whole-home energy efficiency upgrades, including insulation, air sealing, and heating and cooling. Households are eligible for up to $20,000.
- Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) help reduce the up-front cost of high-efficiency home appliances and equipment, including electric stoves, heat pump water heaters, electric wiring upgrades, and heat pumps for heating or cooling. Households are eligible to up to $14,000.
While all Michigan households (homeowners and renters) can pursue energy efficiency upgrades, MiHER will prioritize households with incomes at or below 80% of their county’s Area Median Income (AMI). For low-income households, 100% of efficiency upgrades are paid for.

Federal Home Energy Tax Credits
If you make energy improvements to your home, tax credits up to $3200 per year are available for a portion of qualifying expenses made from 2023 through 2032. Home energy credits include energy efficient home improvements and clean energy equipment.
